From KOTA TV: A Rapid City man who cannot move legs can now drive thanks to help from a lot of people.
Thore Jenshus received a van specially made for him today. His employers and co-workers at Legend Suspensions, in Sturgis, presented the special gift to Jenshus today. Scott Peterson Motors of Sturgis customized the van due to dirt bike injuries 5 years ago. Thore and his boss Jesse Jurrens brainstormed the ideas over lunch. Supporters raised $84,000 for the equipment and van over the past year. Thore gets in and out on a ramp, steers with special knobs, and controls speeds with a lever. “The driving part is completely electronic. It is a video game,” said Tim Kugler, sales manager at Scott Peterson Motors. On my way home from work, I pick up my daughter from school, you know, I can take her to activities,” Jenshus said. Thore said he is very thankful for the van, and is happy that he can make things easier for his wife. He’s also relied on a friend for daily rides to and from work for the past two years.
